Drupal Ethereum is a module that integrates Drupal with the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum can help Drupal applications leverage blockchain ledgers, digital signatures, payments, tokens, and a future internet of value and trust.
Blockchains add a layer of trust to web applications by being a distributed ledger that is a tamper-proof history of all transactions sent to it. The ledger is validated by a global network of p2p nodes and is immutable, censorship-proof and decentralized.
Ethereum is an open source blockchain platform with a built-in currency and smart contracts that automate agreements. Integration with Drupal would allow organizations to integrate Ethereum transactions and smart contracts into their workflows and begin to explore blockchain's benefits. This begins with signed transactions (e.g. payments and digital signatures) and can evolve into tokens, identity and many types of decentralized applications and market platforms.
In my session I will give a technical introduction to the semi-decentralized architecture Drupal Ethereum uses and share insights from my ongoing work on integrating Ethereum with Drupal. I will also discuss future applications and potential business models.
